Bursting Out

It has been the busiest six days of my life and the fun won't stop for another couple of weeks. Last weekend was Joe McCarthy's graduation party in Connecticut. It was super fun... Here is a quick run down. Blake and I got there and not long after, everyone from Norwich was playing wiffle ball... using the kegs as bases. It was pretty spectacular. But, my friends, that is not the best thing... oh no no. Here is THE story of the night:

When Blake and I arrived at Joe's house, Joe told us we could crash there for the night. He showed us to a bedroom and said that the only thing we had to know is that in the back of the closet, there is a door that leads to his parents' room. No big deal, it's way in the back and covered by clothes and things.

So, Blake and I went to sleep at 9pm. We'd had a long few days and all of his friends were sneaking off into dark corners to get drunk some more. So, we retired, locked the doors and went to sleep.

We are SOUND ASLEEP when suddenly, Joe, crazy-crazy-crazy-drunk, comes bursting out of the closet with a blow-up beach ball under his arms, saying things that only half make sense in a really loud voice. "Hey you kids should come outside and hang with us! What are you doing in bed? Come back outside!!" He sits down on the bed and Blake tries to calmly tell him that we are sleeping and do not want to go drink.

All of a sudden, there is a pounding on the door. Joe's mom, Arline starts yelling, "Joe! You open this door right now! You have had too much to drink. GET OUT of there!" Joe yells back, "Relax mom, there are people sleeping in here!" Arline goes quiet and Joe and Blake continue their back and forth. A few seconds later, we hear a whisper from the closet... "Joseph, you get out of that room right now. Joseph! Joseph! Get out of there and leave those people alone!" So, Joe leaves via the actual bedroom door.

Blake and I just look at each other and laugh. We try going back to sleep, but Blake decides to get us a drink of water. He opens the door and we hear Joe's dad, "Joseph, you have had too much alcohol. You are embarrassing yourself. You drink too much..." Blake closed the door on the stern talking-to and we went back to sleep. It was an interesting weekend.
